Have You Ever Felt Like Heaven Was Quiet?

You offer up prayers.
You weep.
You hold off.
But there's just silence.

You're not alone if you're going through a time when it seems like God is far away and your prayers are flying off the ceiling. Numerous obedient individuals who experienced divine silence can be found throughout the Bible.

When heaven is silent, what do you do?
When God doesn't seem to be there, but your suffering is?

This devotional is intended for people who are in the middle, where they are not where they were but are also not where they had hoped to be.

1. God’s Silence Is Not God’s Absence

Being silent in your spiritual life does not imply that God is not paying attention to you.
In actuality, quiet times are when God does some of his best work.

Consider Job. He doesn't hear from God for the majority of the book, but God was keeping an eye on him, listening, and getting ready for something greater.

"The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth," according to Psalm 145:18.

Your feelings are not a measure of God's presence.
Even in the quiet, he's closer than you can imagine.

2. Waiting Is Where Faith Is Grown

God is more concerned with long-term development than we are with quick fixes.
Your trust is stretched, your roots are strengthened, and your hope is made clearer by the silence.

"Be still, and know that I am God," says Psalm 46:10.

Even in the face of uncertainty, spiritual stillness is trusting, not passive.
Imagine a seed in the ground. It's silent and invisible. However, that does not imply that it is dead. It's developing underground.

It's the same with you.

3. God Is Working Even If You Can't See It

God may be building when He is silent.
He is forming the response, getting everyone ready, and coordinating the time.

"Even though it lingers, wait for it; it will definitely come and not delay," says Habakkuk 2:3.

Keep in mind that your delay is not your denial when you're feeling stuck.
"Not yet" and "no" are not the same thing.

God has something in store for you that you aren't yet ready for.

4. What Should You Do in the Waiting?

Here are four things you can do while you wait for the silence to end:

🙏 Even if it seems like nothing is changing, keep praying.

📖 Read His Word: He communicates most effectively in this way.

Consider His Previous Faithfulness

📝 He is capable of doing what He has done in the past.

🕊️ Rest in His Timing: You don't need to force events to occur.

Not always hearing is a sign of faith.
Faith is the ability to believe even when you don't.

Final Encouragement

Don't run if you're currently in a silent season.
Don't stop.
Don't think that God has forgotten about you.

Silence is a sacred place where intimacy grows and faith develops.

Your story is still being written by him.
Whispers are also used to write some of the most impactful chapters.

The Creation of Humanity: God’s Purpose and Design in Genesis

The Creation of Humanity: God’s Purpose and Design in Genesis The creation of the human race stands at the very heart of God’s purpose for the universe. From the beginning, every step of creation was carefully ordered to prepare a perfect home for Adam and Eve, the first humans. Scripture makes it clear that mankind was not an afterthought but the central object of God’s creative plan. Humanity at the Center of Creation Genesis reveals that everything—light, water, land, plants, animals, and even the heavenly bodies—was created with one ultimate goal: to provide an environment in which humanity could flourish. In a profound sense, the universe itself was designed as the stage for God’s redemptive plan, where mankind would play the leading role. The Bible also teaches that the human race remains central to God’s eternal purposes. Everything else in creation—planets, stars, and even the heavens—will eventually come to an end. Jesus Himself declared, “the sun will ...

The Unfathomable Love of God: Understanding Christ’s Redeeming and Covenant Love

The Unfathomable Love of God: Understanding the Depth of Christ’s Redeeming Love When the apostle Paul prayed for the church at Ephesus, he asked that they would be “strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man” so that they might “comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge” (Ephesians 3:16–19). This passage is both comforting and humbling. It reminds us that even with Spirit-supplied strength, human minds can only begin to grasp the immeasurable dimensions of God’s love. And even then, what we understand is only a small glimpse of an infinite reality. But why is God’s love so difficult to fully understand? What makes it so incomprehensible? The answer is revealed throughout Scripture: God’s love is a redeeming love . It is not merely a sentimental feeling or a general benevolence toward humanity. It is a saving, sacrificial, covenant love demonstrated most clearl...
